Ten years ago I went to an estate sale in Raleigh. The elderly home-owner had been part of an itinerant acting troupe back in the ’40s and ’50s. I found a trove of her travel souvenirs in an old trunk–vintage hotel stationery, matchbooks, soaps and almost a dozen different hotel DO NOT DISTURB door hangers. I hoarded them for a decade before finally displaying them in double-sided glass frames from Michael’s. They now hang in the guest bath of Ebbtide, our circa 1932 Tybee beach house. They’re a fave find from #OnTheJunkinTrail and a sentimental #wildcard, because I had no idea what I would do with them.
