Progress in my home office at Squirrel Hollow. Still lots more to do. Planning to hang block print skirt on the long console table to hide all those ugly file boxes. My thrifted supply cabinet still needs sorting and organizing and my desk is piled with crap, but it’s a start. My office is a total DIY/thrift affair. Mr. MKA built the console table and the picture ledges. He built the window cornices and we upholstered them together—which nearly ended our marriage. The table that holds my “broadcast studio” is an antique bought at an estate sale. I was told it originally came from the home of the Edwards Pie family. Remember that fab needlepoint rug I scored a couple weeks ago for my home office? The ripple effect is real. This morning we moved my thrifted slipcovered sofa out—it’s gone home with my DIL. It was a great quality piece, sturdy & comfy, and I spent $$$ having it custom slipcovered in a heavy white cotton duck. This will stand up to the wear and tear of a family with two active boys—and dogs. In its place came a lesser quality Wayfair sofa—also white slipcovered, which I found on FBMP, which will be fine for the occasional use it gets in my office. (Plotting naps!) The former rug in my office may or may not get repurposed at Ebbtide, depending on whether it survives cleaning after Tater used it for his personal urinal. (Grrrr) Now I’ve got to put all the banker’s boxes and file boxes back on the long console Mr. MKA built. (After we do some serious purging and reorganizing.) Hide the glue gun. I “might” have a new addiction. This was such a fun craft. I already had the bags of shells left over from the time I created a shell mirror (which I foolishly left in Coquina Cottage after we sold it three years ago.) I’ll post the rest of today’s estate sale haul later, but I’m most pumped about this handmade (I think) 8-by-10 needlepoint rug I scored for my office for $175. The sale was at amazing contemporary mansion on Atlanta’s Northside, and everything else was brand new and expensive designer stuff.
