Actual apples growing in an apple tree! As a native Floridian, I grew up picking (or filching) oranges, tangerines and lemons. We would snag avocados from the towering tree in a neighbor’s yard, cut them open and sprinkle with juice from another neighbor’s lime tree, them eat them out of our grubby little hands. But apples! Apples still seem exotic to me after all these years.
